River Management Society welcomes three new schools to its unique certificate program

The River Management Society (RMS) welcomes Western Colorado University, Eastern Washington University and Fort Lewis College to its growing network of colleges and universities dedicated to preparing the next generation of river managers and stewards. By offering the River Studies and Leadership Certificate (RSLC), these schools now provide students with a new pathway to professional river-focused careers.

The River Management Society (RMS) has announced the recipients of its 2021 River Studies and Leadership Certificate (RSLC). Certificates have been awarded to Erica Byerley and Lindsay Hansen from Northern Arizona University (NAU) and Tyler Dagliano and Kate Steele from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) for completing interdisciplinary coursework and a field-based practicum in river-based science, policy, conservation, education and recreation.

Alaska Paddling Resources Get a Boost

Alaska’s Wild and Scenic Rivers Now Digitally Mapped

The River Management Society has announced the addition of thirteen segments of Alaska’s National Wild and Scenic rivers, those administered by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), to the nation’s most authoritative interactive map and database, the National Rivers Project (NRP). The inclusion of these 640 boatable miles completes the GIS-based mapping for all federal Wild and Scenic Rivers in the State, joining those administered by the US Fish and Wildlife Service and National Park Service.

This is a great opportunity to stay connected and learn during this time when our regular RMS group events have been shelved. Your story of a river trip, hike or volunteer activity would be a tribute to the connection we have with clean water, wildlife habitat, recreation, energy and life.
