Hydropower Licensing 101 Toolkit

Whether you're new to hydropower or you're just looking to brush up, this toolkit gives you a framework for understanding six areas of core competency essential for anyone to be a proficient hydropower practitioner. It also includes links to dozens other resources for further learning. This toolkit was published in 2023 the River Management Society, National Park Service, and Hydropower Reform Coalition with extensive input from advisors and subject matter experts.

Hydropower Summaries

These summaries distill hydropower license documents (often 150-200 pages!) to highlight the topics of greatest interest to members of the public as well as important plans and provisions affecting public use and access to the river.
