Strategies for Managing Rivers with Less

Kick off the year with our first River Management Roundtable, a dynamic discussion in which river managers, planners, and partners will come together to tackle challenges related to reduced capacity and infrastructure. As budgets tighten, public access and stewardship remain non-negotiable. This discussion will explore innovative, integrated solutions driven by on-the-ground expertise, bold creativity, and a commitment to action—no matter how imperfect the first steps may be.

Expect a frank yet optimistic exchange of ideas focused on honoring the rivers we serve and meeting the needs of the public. Leave inspired with actionable strategies to navigate the year ahead, proving that doing more with less can still yield meaningful results.

Panelists:

  • Dave Cernicek, Bridger Teton National Forest
  • Ryan Ainger, Cuyahoga National Park
  • Bob Stanley, Stanislaus National Park, retired
  • Liz Lacy, National Park Service

Registration

On the second Tuesday of the month, the River Management Society hosts River Management Roundtables (facilitated virtual discussions) with professional river, greenway, and water trails leaders, planners, and managers who will benefit from peer-to-peer sharing. Our goal is to facilitate an open forum in which you can ask questions, share solutions and build comradery. There's no fee or membership requirement to attend, but registration is required to help us set expectations and improve our outreach. We will record the discussion and send it out to registrants within the week.
