NE Chapter Trip: Allagash Wilderness Waterway

September 2-11, 2022

Please see the 2022 AWW Trip Information Packet for more information. Register by August 5, 2022.

The 92-mile Allagash Wilderness Waterway (AWW) in northern Maine is one of America's preeminent canoe trips. Established by the State of Maine in 1966 to preserve, protect, and enhance the natural beauty, character, and habitat of a unique area, the AWW was designated as the first state-administered component of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System in 1970. The AWW is composed of a chain of lakes, ponds, and rivers, including much of the Allagash River, and its managed by the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation, and Forestry to preserve wilderness character.
