Join the River Programs Working Group Conversation!

While “access” to rivers is a public benefit, how are we river managers addressing new populations of visitors? We have seen visitation blossom on rivers re-watered by a hydro relicense recreational releases, newly accessible through new and improved launch sites and water cleaner than decades past.

Growing crowds have challenged the capacity of communities to host visitors who have never before floated moving water, even prior to the pandemic response. Beverly Lopez, Assistant Director, WORD of Comal County, TX, John Kreski, Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area and Stephan Bastrzycki, FRCC River Steward on the Farmington River, will share how their communities are addressing the effects of new, non-traditional use. We will discuss approaches and solutions to overcrowding, trash, parking, erosion, and more! Join us and share your own experiences!
