While river management has been evolving for decades, today’s river managers face some of the most significant challenges and transitions yet. Agencies and organizations are operating with fewer people and resources as river use continues to grow, and legislated protections face new threats — from shifting policies to the everyday challenges of managing rivers with limited capacity. 

However, there's some good news! A generous individual will match all gifts to RMS — up to $10,000 — from now through the end of the year! Your support powers the training, resources and connections that river professionals rely on every day, and it matters now more than ever. This match will double the impact of your generosity!

The River Management Society is the only organization dedicated to equipping river managers, water trail leaders, scientists, and partners with the tools and community they need to study, manage, and protect North America’s rivers.

This year, we put our mission into action by:

• Serving thousands with expanded tools and timely workshops covering topics like hydropower, water trails, inclusive programming, access design, and wild and scenic river management.
• Bringing 200+ professionals to Ashland, OR for the Restoring Rivers for a Resilient Future Symposium, even in the absence of federal staff.
• Presenting the River Studies and Leadership Certificate to 16 emerging river professionals.

• Include RMS in your estate plans: Through our partnership with Life Legacy, RMS members can create or update their wills at no charge. Learn more and get started on our Life Legacy page.
• Make a Qualified Charitable Contribution: If you're at least 70.5 years old, you can donate tax-free from your IRA to RMS. The distribution is not counted as taxable income and can count towards your Required Minimum Distribution.
