Every three years the River Management Society voting membership elects four national officers: President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. The time commitment for each officer varies. All national officers are expected to participate on a monthly conference call and attend an annual three-day board meeting. Cost of travel to the annual board meeting is covered by the individual's employer or by RMS.

2021-2023 National Officer nominations are open

Open positions: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer
Nominations due by August 15, 2020

RMS Members, you are invited to become a leader in the River Management Society (RMS).  We are seeking members who would like to contribute in a leadership role to advance the RMS mission to support professionals who study, manage and protect rivers.

Now, more than ever, our role as a national river organization is important. In recent months, the RMS staff and Board have come together with RMS members and partners to share resources and explore ways to manage rivers within federal, state and local health and safety guidelines during the pandemic. Additionally, members are convening to share thoughts and ideas on how to address diversity, inclusion and equity in the workplace and for the public resources and people we serve.

The RMS Board of Directors includes National Officers - President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer; along with Chapter Presidents and Ex-Officio Advisors.  The National Officers serve 3-year terms beginning January 2021.

Learn more about the roles and responsibilities of RMS National Officers here.
Better yet, you may want to contact the current officers for information and insight:
To submit a nomination, please send a short statement of interest and bio to Risa Shimoda [email protected]. Due August 15.

Join a team of passionate River Managers and help RMS continue its mission into the future!

Thanks for your continued support of RMS. We look forward to hearing from you.

Take care and take heart,

Linda Jalbert
RMS Board President 2017-2020
