A Connecticut native, Bruce holds a degree in Recreation and Leisure with an Outdoor Focus. He began his career as a Wilderness Instructor in New England before moving West, where he developed a passion for raft guiding. Since then, he has gained extensive experience leading both one-day and multi-day trips, domestically and internationally.  In 2007, Bruce took the helm of the OARS Dinosaur Operation. Under his leadership, it grew from a modest outpost into a thriving program capable of running five trips simultaneously, single and multi-day adventures in Dinosaur National Monument and nearby areas, supported by a team of around 50 staff.  Bruce deeply values the human element in this industry, finding the work both special and rewarding, with guide training being a particularly impactful aspect of his contributions. In 2017, Bruce expanded his responsibilities to oversee the development and implementation of risk management systems, including guide training, guest screening, and procedural protocols.

Ashley McEwan Ashley McEwan, Calleva River School Director

joined the team in the winter of 2015. When the Liquid Adventures kayak school became a part of Calleva, Ashley did too! Her favorite Calleva activity is kayaking. She also loves being able to help people find their place within the outdoor community. She is a Level 4 ACA instructor and Instructor Trainer, and holds a Wilderness First Aid certification.
