On behalf of the
2006 Steering Committee, we would like to invite you
to join us for a Joint Meeting–
8th Biennial River Management Society Symposium
10th Annual Missouri River Natural Resources Conference
Collaborating in the Current
The Marina Inn, South Sioux City, Nebraska
May 9-12, 2006 |

From the mountains to the sea, and everywhere in between, we find rivers
and streams contributing to the lives and economies of
our communities. All have names and come in sizes, large and small. Most
were conquered before being fully understood. And just when we understood
what we wanted most, time moved on. Now we ask ourselves, what does this
river really need? Should it be divided more and more, or should health
and sustainability be our lore?
A wide range of workshops and topics will help stimulate, educate, and
challenge you to re-think ways of addressing concerns about rivers within
your own watersheds. In addition to an exciting program of social and hard
science, we have included field trips, entertainment, and opportunities
to help you touch the resource and converse with people who love rivers
and the ecosystem goods and services they provide.
South Sioux City is on the Missouri River, 732 miles
upstream of the mouth, and just downstream of the
Missouri National Recreational River, a rather unique
Wild and Scenic River. Twenty-one miles of transition
river separate the unchannelized 59-mile segment
of the MNRR from the channelized reach below Sioux
City. Come with an open mind and immerse yourself along the great Missouri
River. Help us “Collaborate
in the Current!”
