River Ranger Rendezvous (RRR) 2008

Attention river rangers, recreation technicians, and all individuals who spend time monitoring and patrolling river systems.

You are invited to join other career-oriented river professionals at the 2008 RMS River Ranger Rendezvous (RRR).

This year the Northwest Chapter is sponsoring the event on the Salmon River in North Fork, Idaho June 17-19. Camping (with showers) is available at Indianola.

The RRR is training designed for individuals working in the river management profession. The goal of the workshop is for individuals to gain knowledge and skills related to their everyday job duties. The workshop is an opportunity for participants to learn and discuss issues that could aid in career advancement within the field of river recreation management.

Discussion Topics Include:

  • Techniques to Improve Visitor Contacts and Customer Service
  • Resource Protection from the Law Enforcement Aspect
  • Outfitter Perspectives on Commercial Operator Issues
  • Career Advancement and Availability in River Management
  • Boat Repair and Maintenance Clinic
  • River Issues (i.e., river etiquette, heritage resources, wildfires, and weeds) and Management Strategies
  • Comparisons Between States Concerning River Recreation Programs

~ALONG WITH A FULL DAY TRIP ON THE SALMON RIVER~
The exact field trip location will be weather dependent. Clothing rentals (wetsuit, drysuit, etc) is available through Blackadar Boating, Inc. in Salmon, Idaho (208) 756-3958.

Cost
The cost of the event (which includes food and camping) is $95 for RMS members and $120 for Non-RMS members (includes 1 year Associate membership). The registration deadline is May 23, 2008. A $20 late fee will be added for those who register between May 24 through June 6, 2008.

A River Rescue course will be conducted before the RRR, June 16-17. The day and a half course will be taught by Les Bechdel. The cost is $150 and registration will be done separately for this training. Please contact Canyons Inc. at 1-888-634-2600.
